Parking is the real filter
Hard-parking coves turn stressful by 11:00 in July and August. Arrive early, arrive late, or use a taxi drop-off and skip the hunt.
Sunbeds cost more than you think
Beach-club beds can run €80–€250+ on a peak day. The free public beach is always right beside them — bring a towel.
Wind changes the beach
A strong south wind can wreck a south-coast day while the north stays calm. Check the wind forecast and be ready to flip coasts.
Nudist is normal
Ses Salines, Es Cavallet, and parts of Aguas Blancas are clothing-optional. Nobody cares — it's just how the island is.
Shade is scarce
Most coves are pine-backed but the sand is bare by noon. Bring an umbrella, rent a bed, or plan around the morning and late afternoon.
Mind the flags
Occasional jellyfish ('medusas') appear in late summer. Swim at a lifeguarded stretch and respect the coloured flags.
